The short version: we collect the minimum we need to keep you posted on Metro Surge, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
This policy covers data collected through the Metro Surge website (this page and the sign-up form), our Discord community, and any playtesting surveys we run. It's operated by GameHermits. If you have questions, contact us at the email address at the bottom of this page.
What we actually collect depends on how you interact with us — we don't ask for everything up front. Here's the full picture across every channel:
| Data | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Email address | The sign-up form on this site, so we can notify you when the Steam page goes live |
| What drew you to the game | The optional one-click question shown after you sign up (e.g. customization, powers, setting, combat) |
| Approximate country/region | Automatically inferred from IP address by our email provider — not something you type in |
| Discord handle | Visible to us if you join our Discord server — this is Discord's data, governed by Discord's own privacy policy as well as ours |
| Age range and games you play | Only if you take part in an optional playtesting survey — we'll always tell you what a survey collects before you start it |
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone. We don't use it for anything beyond what's listed above.
We use third-party services to actually run the email list, community, and site analytics — they process data on our behalf, under their own security and compliance standards:
We keep your email on file until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or the game has fully launched and the list is no longer active — whichever comes first. Survey responses are kept only as long as they're useful for development decisions, and are anonymized or deleted once a playtesting phase wraps up.
Wherever you're located, you can ask us at any time to:
If you're in the EU or UK, these rights are guaranteed under GDPR, and you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you're unhappy with how we've handled a request.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site — general information like pages viewed, approximate location (not a precise address), and device type. It doesn't personally identify you.
This only runs if you accept it. When you first visit, you'll see a cookie banner — nothing is tracked until you click Accept, and if you click Decline (or ignore it), the site works exactly the same either way. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's cookies for this site, which will show the banner again.
Metro Surge's marketing is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we'll delete it.
